Monteal AIDS Conference Ad Hoc Committee

This committee is planning ACT UP New York’s attendance and actions at the upcoming 1989 International Conference on AIDS in June. This will be the fifth annual conference. In the past, this conference has been mainly for doctors and scientists to present their slow-moving, academic research to each other and the press. ACT UP New York is planning to send a contingent of hundreds of protesters to the meeting to demand that people with AIDS be included in determining the speed and direction of research and care.

The members of the committee will want to stress to as many people at the meeting as they can how important it is that there be a large contingent from ACT UP New York in Montreal, and try to get people to commit to coming June 4-June 9.
